The Annual Auction & Gala is an amazing school-wide event that occurs late winter/early spring and is open to all Seattle-area community members. Adults get dressed up, enjoy a fantastic night out, have a delicious meal and a few drinks, bid on both Silent and Live Auction items and raise their bid cards – all in the spirit of raising money for JDS. Funds from the Auction are used for operations, but are also allocated to those “extra” things needed by the school. Recent “extra” funding examples include:
- Enhancements to the Middle School lounge
- Supporting the Middle School STEM lab transformation
- Professional development and continuing education opportunities for faculty and staff
While JDS does not expect 100% participation at the Auction & Gala, the event is truly outstanding and one you don’t want to miss! Our 2016 JDS Auction & Gala raised over $360,000 for JDS and generated an attendance of over 300 guests.

Our Auction volunteers make this event happen! Led by two Co-Chairs, Bonnie Cape and Hava Jeroslow, and a staff Auction Coordinator, Jacqui Rockowitz, multiple committees spend many months developing an event theme, procuring Silent and Live Auction items, managing grade art projects to be bid on during the Live Auction, and generating enthusiasm (and attendees) from JDS families and outside our campus community.
