Early Childhood & Junior Kindergarten - Jewish Day School

Early Childhood & Junior Kindergarten

Early Childhood
Our Early Childhood (EC) program buzzes with activity. Upon entering our classroom, one quickly notices an environment filled with the smiles, questions, songs and explorations of our youngest JDS class. Each day begins with a morning meeting where teachers and children greet one another, share news, join in daily Hebrew songs and prayers and make appreciations. From there, children move on to a day filled with inquiry, exploration, creativity and play.

Our EC program strives to nurture both the hearts and minds of our students. We seek to teach our youngest learners that school is a live laboratory primed for cultivating their curiosity and growth, for building friendships and resolving conflicts, and for developing their understanding of the child's Self, Judaism and the world.

Through our inquiry curriculum, children are provided the opportunity to foster self-esteem, independence and cooperation. Our students construct meaning through noticing and wondering, exploration and discovery, critical thinking and problem-solving.

Our Early Childhood program is year-round with expanded hours open to children ages 2.5 to 4 years old. Come and see our young learners in action. Junior Kindergarten
Our Junior Kindergarten (JK) students enter into a nurturing, fun and engaging learning environment. This class is a developmentally appropriate balance of social, emotional and academic preparedness for Kindergarten. A child's innate curiosity is cultivated and celebrated as experienced faculty guide students to construct new knowledge and understanding of themselves, their learning and their world. Our inquiry-based program and affective curriculum allow us to provide an unparalleled, distinctive Jewish education grounded in best practice. Features include inquiry science, morning meetings, music and movement, language lab and early literacy, hands-on math investigations, expression and creativity, and experiential learning.

Our Junior Kindergarten Program is year-round with expanded hours open to children ages 4 - 5 at the beginning of the academic school year.
