Inquiry-Based Learning at JDS

Inquiry-based learning is JDS’ school-wide teaching philosophy. Based on years of research into the learning process, inquiry focuses on “learning how to learn” and emphasizes critical thinking and development. Commonly used across Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and internationally, (specifically in the International Baccalaureate schools primary years program, PYP, and middle years program, MYP), inquiry-based learning is widely recognized.

Through inquiry, JDS students master the same core competencies (content and skills) as their peers in public and other area independent schools, only JDS’ inquiry program takes students further, teaching them to think deeper, engage, collaborate and problem solve. Ultimately, JDS students know who they are, they understand what it means to be part of a community, and they are empowered to make a difference in the world by taking action.

JDS prepares students for life.
