Who We Are:

The Jewish Day School of Metropolitan Seattle (JDS) is a Jewish community day school serving approximately 100 children, early childhood through eighth grade. Our gorgeous 7-acre campus is located east of downtown Seattle in the Crossroads area of Bellevue – just 2 miles south of Microsoft’s main campus. Our inquiry-based learning program fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, confidence, collaboration, leadership, innovation, and more all in a global learning environment.

JDS’ mission is to empower children to grow into capable, wise, and compassionate upstanders by integrating an innovative academic program with Jewish education and traditions. JDS faculty members are a collaborative team of reflective, innovative, and passionate educators focused on nurturing students’ individual identities, an inquiry mindset, respectful and collaborative relationships, and an appreciation of diversity, through a values-based approach and a strong social-emotional foundation. JDS was founded in 1980 by a small group of community leaders who longed to provide an exceptional values-based, “whole child” education delivered in a Jewish environment. JDS, the region’s first community day school, opened with 32 students as a kindergarten through second grade school in the former Temple De Hirsch Sinai facility in Bellevue.
