community

Note From Meghan

Dear Families,

At JDS, our community is our home. We would like to share several opportunities for families to share the value of the JDS experience with others as well as provide more opportunities for you to get personally involved with our school.

First, we encourage you to invite your friends to attend two great JDS admissions experiences – our in-person Peek into Kindergarten on November 16th and our virtual Middle School Experience Panel on December 6th. Both events provide a meaningful introduction to the curriculum and community during these transitional years. Please refer your friends and family to Wendy Leberman, wleberman@jds.org, for more information and location details.

We are also in the process of reconstituting a robust parent volunteer program, and we are thrilled to be able to welcome parents and caregivers back to our classrooms, libraries, and other spaces. There will be more information to follow from your Village Leaders in the coming weeks. In preparation for these volunteer opportunities, we ask that you fill out a Volunteer and Chaperone Agreement in MyJDS. Once we have received your completed forms, you will be asked to complete a basic background check.

Finally, we want to start a new tradition that helps our community better connect with each other. Prior to each Kehillah, we would like to invite families to walk their students to their Village classrooms before moving into the amphitheater for coffee. This will give families the chance to take a quick peek into the classroom and say hello to teachers. We recognize that this has been missing since the pandemic and look forward to bringing this opportunity back on Kehillah days.

We hope to see you at one of these wonderful opportunities soon!

With Gratitude,

Meghan
