Dear Families,
Erev Rosh Hashanah is a wonderful time to share new beginnings, fun celebrations, and inspiring community.
At today’s Kehillah, we will celebrate our future home on Mercer Island. We are so thrilled to work in partnership with Herzl-Ner Tamid to create a new space on the Barnaby Point parcel of land owned by the synagogue. We are very happy that this decision has been shared publicly and that we are able to bring forward a definitive answer to the longstanding question of “Where will JDS be in the future?” The Board of Trustees and I will hold regular update sessions to share progress on planning and construction. We are already well on our way to having visuals and timelines to share.
On Wednesday, we had the distinct joy of bringing our school to the Mariners baseball game where we were joined by SJCS. It was a true delight to be out in the community together. Even if baseball wasn’t a student’s favorite sport, everyone worked together to find their own joy on a beautiful fall day. I particularly enjoyed learning new jokes and playing games with some of our younger Villagers. It was such a delight to build relationships in this way.
I sincerely hope that your Rosh Hashanah celebrations include friends, family, and the blessings of the new year.
L’Shana Tova,
Meghan
