Dear Families,
I wanted to take just a moment to recognize the well-publicized antisemitic events of the last week and the level of concern they bring. However, it is the less publicized events that happen just as frequently that should also capture our attention.
The mission of JDS is one of the powerful ways that we can resist these hateful attacks and create a community of upstanders who advocate for themselves and others. At the end of the day, our focus on the values of Kehillah Kedoshah and Tikkun Olam will serve to build a better world where our students are free to learn without fear of hatred and to teach others to do the same.
As we teach our children to be stewards of their community, the safety of our campus is always our first and most important priority. We are constantly evaluating and practicing our security procedures at JDS and remain in close contact with the SAFE Washington network for Jewish organizations and local law enforcement. Our gated campus and security guard remain in place and we feel confident that we are doing everything in our power to keep students, faculty and staff as safe as possible at all times.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions or concerns. In the spirit of balancing the difficult moments with the joy of JDS, join us in celebration of our community and common values at our Kehillah on Friday morning. We hope you will stand with us in our resistance.
With gratitude,
Meghan
